Self-contained, Wireless Field Networks

By linking together devices using recently-developed technologies, EVE can create computer network systems that allow users to interactively use a computer network in remote locations. Handheld computers link wirelessly with a laptop-based server and via Bluetooth technology to devices such as printers, GPS devices, barcode scanners and digital cameras. The server can be powered by battery or from the cigarette-lighter socket on a vehicle. All devices on the network are ruggedised to provide protection in outdoor environments.

The server can provide such facilities as:

• web pages - a built-in webserver allows the remote users to access web pages
• online database - a built-in database system and web browser interface allows users to access and maintain bespoke databases
• files - access or create files to be shared with all users
• backup - keep your database and files safe by backing-up to disk
• communicate - connect via a mobile phone to the internet
• surf - browse websites that have been previously downloaded to the server for remote information retrieval

example uses:

• archaeology - record context and finds details efficiently to reduce post-excavation transcribing. Use with GPS and digital camera devices.
• surveying - outdoor building or land surveying data can be entered directly into your database or specialist software. Use with GPs devices.
• warehouse - wherever your warehouse is situated, use this system to keep your stock levels recorded. Use with barcode devices.
• tournaments - record scores and relay them live to the server for up-to-the-minute results and stats
