| McKinnon Forbes are based in offices around East
Lothian (near Edinburgh, Scotland) and provide legal & property
services throughout the region.Their legal services include property
conveyancing, court work, debt, accident claims and wills/executries. |
| Network Installation |
|
The requirement was for a completely new network
in their newly-acquired Tranent office. The office was fully
networked for data and voice (telephones/fax/ISDN) with Cat
5/RJ45 cabling, incorporating 100mbps and gigabit (1000mbps)
network switches. Broadband connections allow internet and email
access, as well linking the Tranent, Haddington and Prestonpans
offices in a wide-are network (WAN). Remote-working is provided
via a broadband VPN, allowing staff to work from home (teleworking).
New and exisiting printers were incorporated into the network.
Email facilities are controlled using one of EVE's
dedicated email servers. Firewalls, backup systems & anti-virus
protection ensure that the files are kept secure. The WinPIM
conatct and appointment management application provides a cost-effective
means of keeping track of clients.

| As
there are no on-site IT personnel, EVE is required to fully support
the system with constantly-available contact via telephone and
email. On-site visits can be made from .5-4 hours of initial contact,
although remote-administration facilities allow EVE to
instantly diagnose and remedy most issues. |

| A
constantly-changing portfolio of residential properties required
a system that was easy to maintain and update. A bespoke online
property database was developed to provide McKinnon Forbes with
a strong web presence, containing details of the properties that
they have for sale, as well as their other legal services. The
system is secure and simple to use, staff are able to maintain
an accurate property portfolio with minimal training. |
| Training |
| Basic
training, hints & tips, more advanced training and general
troubleshooting has been provided to a number of employees. In
addition, some staff have been trained in the manipulation of
digital photographs using Paint Shop Pro and web site maintenance. |
